About Elig

Elig Brake Technologies Corp. (formerly Elig Industrial Co. LTD.) was established in 1998. The founders devoted to the development of eco-friendly products of non-asbestos friction materials, and that has successfully applied to bicycle disc brake systems - a pioneer in the industry.

(Asbestos is classified as a first grade carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer, IARC, where the Taiwan Environmental Protection Agency announced on February 2nd, 2012 to ban its use in the manufacture of brake lining after July 1st, 2018.)

Subsequently, the disc and drum brakes for automobiles, motorcycles, and wet clutches that are made of non-asbestos eco-friendly friction materials were also successfully developed. In order to continuously innovate the products, technical collaboration with the research labs in the US and Japan was conducted, and the manufacture technologies of high-performance sintered alloy brake plates have been introduced from the main US manufacturers in 2006. Our products are selling to several tens of countries in the world. Either typical riding on normal roads or on racing tracks and other fields, all are highly praised by all the customers. The team also successfully joined in the supply chain of Japanese, American and European automotive manufacturers.

Research and Development

  • Jointly develop the formula for friction materials with the US and Japanese research labs, and adopt high-quality raw materials from main Japanese, European and American manufacturers.
  • Adopt Japanese computer-aided vehicle dynamic simulation test equipment and German friction material dynamic testers to verify product development.

Elig was founded in Taiwan. Brake pads for bicycle disc brake system with non-asbestos environmentally friendly material was firstly developed and manufactured, which leads Elig entered the bicycle supply chain successfully.

Added motorcycle product line with non-asbestos environmentally friendly material, and obtain ISO9002/QS9000 certifications, entered motorcycle supply chain.

Sintered brake pad production technology from United States was introduced, entered ATV supply chain.

Japanese OEM non-asbestos organic material formulation technologies were introduced, and Japanese SNT dynamic performance test equipment acquired.

Established new manufacturing plant in Dong Nai Industrial Area, at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and started with production of disc brake pads, and drum brake shoes for motorcycle.

America’s OEM semi-metallic material formulation technologies were introduced, and testing equipment specified by European E-MARK certification specifications was acquitted added.

Expansion in Dong Nai Industrial Area, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and second plant was built to increase production capacity.

Motorcycle’s OEM formula technologies from Japanese and Italian were introduced, to enhance the production line automation ability of Taiwan plant.
